What is a parish membership and how to become a member of our parish

Parish Membership

We often use the words temple and parish as synonyms, however, there are a number of differences between them. A temple is a building for religious purposes in which divine services take place, and the parish consists of people who come to the temple - parishioners. Many people come to the church, buy candles, stand at the service and leave without being interested in the events taking place in the multifaceted life of the parish. Divine services are, of course, the first and most important component of parish life, but we should not forget about the charitable and missionary component in which not only clergy, but also parishioners can take part. Also, each parish has a church committee elected from the official members of the parish. And if you don’t have to be an official member of the parish to attend church and do volunteer work, you do have to be a member of the parish to participate in administrative work.
Once a person becomes an official member of a ward, he or she has the right to vote at meetings and elect ward officers. In addition, he is allowed to be elected to parish positions himself.
